In the fall of 1910, a Jewish family moves from the Lower East Side of New York City to the hamlet of Mountaindale in the Catskills for fresh country air. Papa is too sick to work and food is scarce. On his way to school, twelve-year-old Adam Bieman is hungry and sees the apples in the Friedland orchard. He cannot resist the ripe, red fruit. Soon his troubles begin to multiply.

This engaging American tale, interwoven with historical details about the Catskills, captures the essence of the Jewish High Holidays. It is a charming story for children about family and forgiveness. Although a good audiobook for kids, Out of the Apple Orchard will delight listeners of all ages.

Narrated by Nicole Raphael, whose other audiobook narration includes Scholastic’s
Dear America: Voyage on the Great Titanic, The Dairy of Margaret Ann Brady, is the Artistic Director of The Mesaper Theatre. The Mesaper Theatre has produced concert readings in New York City of Out of the Apple Orchard by award-winning playwright, Ellen W. Kaplan, based on the award-winning book by Yvonne David.

This 6-panel digipack double-disc audiobook includes stunning artwork by Lyn Rodden. Composer/ keyboardist, Ben Rauch, produced and engineered this wonderful recording in New York City, complete with original music and sound effects.
